1.Visit any Startimes office to migrtate to any bouquet of your choice.

2. Migrating to other bouquet can be done using your mobile phone.

How To Recharge Your Startimes Decoder On The Internet

Apart from recharging your startimes decoder through sms using your mobile phones, subscribers can now easily recharge their startimes decoder through startimes website.

The steps to follow to recharge your startimes decoder are as follow:

Purchase the Startimes recharge card from authorized dealers or outlets,log on to Startimes website www.startimes.com.ng and then click on customer care.

Get your startimes smart card number from the smart card inserted in your decoder,type it in the smart card number text box, also type in a default password which is 123456, the default password is for first time users, who can also change the default password to a new six digit password of their choice, type in the check number and click on “Login“

Password Reset allows you to change your default or old password  to a new six digit password of your choice.Type in your old password and new password, confirm it by retyping the new password and click on “Modify”

Startimes Decoder Software Update Mode

Startimes decoder software auto-update

Startimes decoder possesses auto-update function. When the decoder receives a new version of the software, a dialog box will pop up to remind you of new version of software update, and then the decoder will automatically update the software.

Interruption of signal strength can cause update disruption. Make sure your decoder signal strength  is OK, before proceeding on software update, otherwise you will encounter difficulties viewing programs on your decoder if ever there is an interruption while doing the software update.

Troubleshooting Your StarTimes Decoder

These are simple troubleshooting methods for your Startimes decoder.

Question 1

My startimes display screen at the front panel does not display.

Answer:

Check whether the power plug of the decoder is correctly inserted into the AC220V power jack and also see if the power switch of the decoder switches on.

Question 2

No sound and image from my startimes decoder.

Answer:

Check whether the antenna is correctly connected to the decoder. And make sure the audio and video cable of the decoder and TV is correctly connected; be sure that the TV has been switched to AV mode using your TV remote control.

Question 3

My remote control does not work.

Answer:

May be the battery capacity is insufficient or bad; make sure you replace two new batteries, be sure that the transmission end of the remote control points at the infrared receiving window of the decoder. Also check whether an obstacle exits before the infrared receiving window of the decoder, if so, please remove it.

Always keep the remote control points free from dirt and obstacle.

Question 4

Suddenly my startimes decoder does not respond.

Answer:

If this is caused by wrong operation from the user, power off and on again, the decoder will recover.

Question 5

On my decoder some program includes sound and no image.

Answer:

Maybe the decoder is under the state of receiving broadcast program, also check if the video cable is connected correctly.

Question 6

On my decoder some program includes image and no sound.

Answer:

Check whether the left and right track cables are connected properly be sure the decoder track is set as the stereo state.

If the problems can not be rectify with the above methods, contact the local digital TV operator or startimes dealer store closer to you.

Solving Signal Problem On Your StarTimes Decoder

” No signal ” error message can be so annoying and frustrating when ever you see such on your TV screen while watching your startimes decoder. Seeing ”No signal” on your TV screen can make you think that startimes service is not quiet OK meanwhile the fault is from you not from startimes.

I have received lots and lots of comments concerning this problem ” No signal ” error message, and i have given the solution several time on each comments, but now i decided to write an article on solving the problem. Signal problem on the decoder is most caused by end user. How?

Failure to plug your antenna to the decoder or improper connection of the antenna will result to displaying of ” No signal ” on your TV screen. Both the recommended antenna ” Yagi” and your local antenna works perfectly with the decoder.Below is an instructions i always give when situation like this comes up.

Yagi antenna

Make sure your antenna is properly plug at the back of your startimes decoder.Using the ” Yagi ” antenna or the local antenna, make sure the antenna is properly position.  Wrong positioning can generate lots of error codes messages majorly ” No signal ” error massage on your TV screen.

I’ll give an instance of how to locate good positioning to achieve a crisp picture and sound quality without skipping.

Locate any active or working satellite dish withing your neighborhood, the satellite dish may be for DSTV or HITV, Note down where the dish is facing or position. Position your Yagi antenna or the local antenna to the position you noted down, with this method you can always be sure of a crisp picture and sound. NB. The smaller antenna that comes with the decoder works the same way.

Make sure the antenna is plugged to your startimes decoder, NOT to TV set. and if signal is weak with the smaller antenna that comes with the decoder make use of your local antenna or ” Yagi ”.

NB. You are likely to experience ”No signal” message on your TV screen if startimes has not commence transmission in your state. Presently startimes signal is available in five state.

1. LAGOS

5. PORT HARCOURT

A couple of days ago someone called me on phone at the middle of the night asking me what has happened to his startimes decoder. He said, he loaded his decoder four days ago and he received the confirmation that his recharging is successful,  yet the decoder still give an error message ” NO signal ”. So i told him the error is from him, and i ask him to do what i have just written above, few minutes later he called me back to say thank you but i ask him to thank startimes.

How to insert the smart card

1. Put the smart card into your decoder in arrow direction with the chip face down.

2. Do not take out the smart card while your decoder is powered on.

3. Keep the smart card properly and away from any electromagnetic object.

4. The smart card can only work with particular decoder. Do not transfer it to others,
and do not insert it into any other decoder.

5. In case of lost or damage, please contact StarTimes office or StarTimes sales agent
to purchase a new one.

6. The StarTimes Smart card works with only StarTimes products, decoders and Digital TVs.

1.   Scratch the foil to reveal the 16 digit PIN number
2.   Enter CC#Smart Card Number#PIN
3.   Send as SMS to 32020.
4.   You will receive an SMS about the recharge whether it is successful and your current balance.
Note: find the Smart Card number on the Smart Card Inserted in your Video Gateway
