To install your Startimes antenna “Yagi” please pay attention to the following things:

  • It is better for the antenna setup to be higher rather than be lower.

 

  • The antenna should face the television transmission tower. Please check the location of Startimes television transmission tower in your city from the local dealers.

 

  • The antenna should be fixed well without swaying or moving, otherwise, it will affect the reception of the signal.

 

  • Please try to avoid tall trees and groves, avoid high-tension wire.

 

 

 

Startimes Decoder and Antenna Installation

The smart card that comes with your Startimes decoder is the undivided key to your Startimes decoder. Meaning the smart card only work with the decoder it comes with.

Insert the smart card into the card slot of your Startimes decoder. Note: when you insert the card, make sure the golden metallic chip faces down and insert it to the end. Smart card insertion direction varies. The above description is for Startimes decoder and not for Startimes TV with inbuilt decoder.

Now to connect the wires, first connect the decoder to power supply, and then connect the red, yellow and white wires between the decoder and the TV. Make sure you follow the color code. Red on red, Yellow on yellow and then White on white respectively.

Now take out the indoor antenna and connect it to the RF-in interface on the decoder, stick the antenna to any metallic flat surface in your room, then turn on the TV and switch to AV1 mode then turn on the decoder. The start up picture with Startimes logo will appear on the TV. After that the auto search begins.

Wait patiently for the program search. If you have received the required channels for your chosen bouquet, check whether all the channels can display fluently. If there is no block of program or mosaic on the screen, it means the indoor antenna reception is good, and now you can enjoy the colorful program.

If there are no channels found after the auto search, you need to place the indoor antenna to another place. Please remember: every time you change the location of the antenna, you need to restart the auto search.

If the indoor antenna reception is too bad, you need to consider using an outdoor antenna.
If you have the outdoor antenna already and can receive the signal of other channels, please try to connect the outdoor antenna connector to the RF -in interface on the decoder. After that, turn on the decoder and start auto search. If you could get required channels without block of  program nor mosaic on the screen, it means the outdoor antenna works well, and you can enjoy the program now.

If your outdoor antenna still doesn’t work, i advise you to purchase Startimes’ antenna “Yagi”.
Just to remind you: when you choose the place for the antenna, please don’t haste to fix the cable. You’d better adjust it repeatedly to find the best angle for the antenna to receive the signal.

Error Messages

  • Encrypted Program

Solutions

  •  Check your Smart card if insert well, or Insert your Smart Card into the decoder
  • Make sure you switch off your decoder before removing or inserting the smart card.
  • Make sure the golden chip on the smart card is clean before inserting the card otherwise make sure the golden chip is wiped clean with a clean cloth before you insert it in the decoder.
  • Never remove/insert your smart card while the decoder is on.

Error Messages

  • Smart Card Error

Solutions

  • The card was inserted wrongly, Please insert your Smart card with the Golden chip facing down and follow the arrow direction. This method applies to decoder only.

  • No Signal

Solutions

  • Please check if your indoor antenna is installed well. If Yes, Adjust it until you pick the signal. If doesn’t pick signals then your will be required to get an Outdoor antenna.

  • No Service

Solutions

  • Adjust your Antenna for a better signal or Do an Automatic channel search or Call Startimes Hotline to confirm if it’s a general problem or for further assistance.

Solutions

  • It may either be Disconnected or your IC and VG are not well-matched/Compatible. Please call Startimes Hotline for help.
  • IC is a Smart Card in a Decoder
  • VG is the Video Gateway (Decoder)

Solutions

  • This will be signal problem, Please adjust your Indoor Antenna or Acquire outdoor for Better signal.

This is a signal problem, Please adjust your outdoor Antenna or Acquire one if you had an indoor antenna, for Better signal.

  • Missing Some channels

Solutions

  •  Go to Menu, then System settings, OK, Channel search, Manual search, Ok, Enter Frequency, Or perform Atomic Search with your decoder remote control.

Solutions

  • Press Mail Button on your decoder remote control to open the message, select the message to read/delete.

  •  Press Track Button to get the sound or to remove the interference.
