How to insert the smart card
1. Put the smart card into your decoder in arrow direction with the chip face down.
2. Do not take out the smart card while your decoder is powered on.
3. Keep the smart card properly and away from any electromagnetic object.
4. The smart card can only work with particular decoder. Do not transfer it to others,
and do not insert it into any other decoder.
5. In case of lost or damage, please contact StarTimes office or StarTimes sales agent
to purchase a new one.
6. The StarTimes Smart card works with only StarTimes products, decoders and Digital TVs.

Startimes is working perfectly. All you to do is to load your decoderu
To recharge your decoder simply type:
RES#smartcard nunmber#decoder serial number
send to 32020.
Make sure you leave no space between the text message.

”NO SIGNAL message” this error message is caused by you.
To rectify this error message check if the antenna is properly connected to the decoder and reposition the antenna. Then watch for the greener light at the front panel of your decoder. if the greener light does not comes up, reposition the antenna and check the connection of the antenna properly.

hello Julius,
I will always suggest using MTN network when ever you want to recharge your startimes decoder. Some network are very sluggish to deliver your message, if used to pay for your subscription.
Secondly you said no signal, i think that fault is from you. Make sure your antenna is properly connected to the decoder. Also check to if the signal light comes up. Signal light is below the power light at the front of your decoder.

Am in Lagos precisely surulere…the problem am facing is that there is no interesting music channel apart from MTV BASE.The Trace Tropical earlier introduced does not appear anymore.why and more over i would like to upgrade for the N1800 package for more channels but to no avail.what is happening?

Startimes has not fully started transmission in Abeokuta. What you are receiving presently is partial transmission from Ibadan where the signal is available, that is why you are experiencing bad signal strength.

I recharge my star times decoder about 5 weeks ago, wasn’t around to use it so it was off for a whole month. i recharge with N1000.00 yesterday 9th-11-2011 recieve a txt message recharge successful and my account is showing NGN 282.81 why is it so??. You wrongly slot in the smartcard into decoder. Remove the smart card and replace it back with the arrow direction on the smart card facing down direction while in inserting it into your decoder.

I have a problem with my startimes, anytime i power it on it will start fine but after some minutes the signal strength will reduce untill it will stop show and it will give me a message no signal. Pls wat can i do, i have an external poll but still the problem is not solved

Your signal strength is very week. Get yagi anntenna or reposition your antenna towards sat 28.2E ( this is where the sun rise position)

Your smart card is not properly inserted. switch off the decoder and wipe the smart card chip with a clean cloth insert it back and switch on.
NB.While inserting the smart card back make sure the arrow direction on the smart card is faced down.
if error message continue coming up visit any startimes office around your neighborhood to rectify the smart card error.

HI,you guys recently upgraded and i found out that soem of the channels i use to watch no longer shows liek STVE1,STVE2,STV Kungfu ,but i got some new interesting channels,like true movies,fox entertainment,are you guys still upgrading i stay in port harcourt.

Hey Micheal,
To rectify the error messages, switch off your decoder before inserting the smart card and make sure the golden chip on the smart card is gently cleaned.
After inserting the smart card, now switch it on and wait for it to boot.
If problem persist do visit startimes office in your area.

Switch off and switch on will not solve the issue. This is signal problem. if you make use of the indoor antenna make sure you change it to outdoor antenna.

Wipe the golden chip on the smart card with a clean cloth, switch off the decoder, insert the card with the golden chip facing down. Now switch on your decoder. if this process does not help, visit any startimes office to replace the card.

Follow this instructions to rectify the smart card problem.
Wipe the golden chip on the smart card with a clean cloth. Make sure you dont use water to clean the golden surface. shot down your decoder and insert the smart card in your decoder. Make sure the golden chip is facing down while inserting the smart card
Now switch on your decoder.
If the above procedure does not restore your decoder back to life,i advice you visit any startimes outlets in you area with the decoder
